We are friendly, local and honest and, above all, we really care.
Sure, you're thinking, you've heard all that before and you've also heard all the horror stories. Trust us, so have we and we've witnessed a few ourselves. We have been in the short-term holiday letting business in Robe for just over two decades and we've seen it all. We were here before instant book websites, influencers and the 'AirBNB' effect. We were renting out houses when booking confirmations were actually posted (you know, via snail mail) and guests had to be called from a land line!! It was bloody hard work and there was really no way to verify things. Now, with all of this technology and automation the administration is easier, but it can also be easy to lose touch with the personal side of guest management and houses still don't clean themselves.
2. We are exclusive.
Not everyone can list with Happyshack and that's a good thing!
Unlike your average property management agency, we are less concerned with the volume of properties and choose instead to curate a group of inviting, beachside, relaxed properties – ones in which we know we can sustain a long-lasting successful relationship with owners and a great space for guests.
3. We are personal
Being an intimate management team means you will get to know us very well! We believe in transparent communication and your success is our success. We keep our portolio small so that we can manage everything ourselves, right down to the cleaning. We'll expect you to be on board with our standards and you will need to help out where possible with prompt maintenance and flexability of personal use where necessary.
4. We are real people
The people who do 95% of the work are husband and wife Richard and Debra Mackey. We are fifth generation locals, middle aged and work hard to be able to enjoy a life by the sea. We also get sick, need a holiday and sometimes just want to scream with the 'tourismness' of it all.
To ensure balance we take a couple of breaks a year and when we do we block the calendars. You are welcome to use your house but Dick and Deb are 'Out of Office' :)
